350 Aotearoa applauds the government’s announcement today that makes Aotearoa the first country in the world to require the financial sector to report on climate risks. 350 Aotearoa was among a majority of submitters that called on the government to introduce mandatory climate-related disclosure during its public consultation period in 2019.

Climate justice organisation 350 Aotearoa is disappointed that the Environment Select Committee has failed to address substantial concerns with the Covid-19 Response (Fast Track Consenting) Bill in its report released today. The Bill currently removes the public’s right to have a say on fast-tracked infrastructure projects and fails to create climate and environmental bottom lines as criteria for fast-tracking.
