As an independent non-profit charitable trust, the Far North Environment Centre mission is to initiate and promote projects that raise awareness of and enhance the environment of the Far North of Aotearoa/New Zealand. We aim to provide environmental education in our community, protection of the environment and promotion of sustainability in our area.

EcoMatters’ Sustainable Living Centre is a one-stop shop for people to visit, be inspired, attend workshops, and get information on living sustainably in the urban environment.  The 1950s retrofitted house on approx an acre of land in New Lynn is packed with information and displays on all things ‘eco’ from solar hot water and rainwater harvesting to green building and organic gardening.  Also on offer is a well stocked ‘eco library’, small retail space and biodiesel to fuel your car.

Nelson

Nelson Environment Centre (NEC), founded in 1976, works proactively with the Nelson and Tasman community to promote awareness, practical action and projects around climate change, resource depletion and sustainability.
