350.org
350.org was founded by internationally recognised U.S. author and environmentalist Bill McKibben, who wrote one of the first books on global warming for the general public.
350 Aotearoa is the New Zealand branch.
This global team has helped mobilize over 5200 actions in 181 countries on October 24th, 2009— CNN called it 'the most widespread day of political action in the planet's history.
With so many actions, and front-page photos in newspapers from the U.S. to Mexico, India to South Africa, we made a real difference at the UN climate meetings in Copenhagen a month later. By the time the negotiations were finished, 112 countries had endorsed the 350 target.
So now we're building an even bigger and stronger movement. in 2010 we hosted a Global Work Party, with over 7000 climate solutions projects in communities around the world.
But, while the majority of world leaders are now calling for 350, some countries including China, the US, and New Zealand, still are not.
What can we do to get the remaining leaders on board? Visit our get involved section to find out more.
